Österreichs größtes, biennales Fotofestival verwandelte die Stadt Wien über einen Monat lang in eine lebendige Bühne für das Medium Fotografie.
Museen, Galerien, Hochschulen und Projekträume luden dazu ein, die Vielfalt fotografischer Bilder zu erkunden.
Foto Wien ist ein großes Fotofestival, das alle zwei Jahre in Wien stattfindet und 2024 unter dem Motto Dynamic Futures stand. Jede:r kann sich bewerben, muss jedoch selbst eine Galerie organisieren. Das Festival vereint zahlreiche Ausstellungen in Museen, Galerien und urbanen Räumen – vom etablierten Museum bis zum kleinen Atelier in einem Wohnhaus.
Besondere Aufmerksamkeit gilt den wissenschaftlichen Aspekten der Fotografie, der Cyanotypie und den kreativen Ansätzen der Künstler. In dieser Episode diskutieren die Teilnehmer die verschiedenen Aspekte der Fotografie, einschließlich der Bedeutung von Kontext, dem Einfluss von Musik, der Wahrnehmung von Serienfotografie und experimenteller Fotografie.
Amelie Walter, Wolfgang Bliem und Thomas Füngerlings reflektieren über die Rolle der Technik, moderne Einflüsse und die Verbindung von Fotografie und Geschichte. Zudem werden Ausstellungen und Buchvorstellungen thematisiert, die die Fotografie und deren Themen vertiefen.

🇬🇧 Highlights of FOTO WIEN 2025
Foto Wien is a photography festival showing the full spectrum of the medium – from analog and digital to collage and AI. The hosts share inspiring exhibitions in museums and small gallery spaces, while also pointing out that the theme was not always visible and that large institutions hardly promoted their participation. Stand-out exhibitions include Inge Dick’s light works, Taguchi’s collage photography, Simak’s analog series and Domanova’s bathtub story. The festival shows how photography constantly reinvents itself.
